South Korean dev GPAX has unveiled its new online arcade flight sim. Here's a bit from the press release:

Dead six is the terminology for the 6 o’clock blind spot, or the tail of a fighter aircraft in aerial combat. Faithful to its title, ‘Dead Six’ is a flight shooting game based on the motif of aerial combat between fighter aircraft. The flight shooting genre has been loved by a sturdy base of mania fans for a long time. Yet, it has been particularly struggling in the online game market. GPAX, the developer of ‘Dead Six’, has boldly chosen a path shunned by all others. Seong-cheol Shin, CEO of GPAX, has rendezvoused with adventurous developers and attempts to materialize his yearning for the skies.

This exciting upgrade is packed with new content, gameplay enhancements, and the destruction of bugs.

The version 5.0 upgrade is applicable to both the free downloadable version and the Enhanced Edition (which can be purchased either as a physical product shipped to you or as an immediate download through the all new official Shrapnel Games e-store, the Gamers Front) of winSPMBT. Third Wire Productions has issued a new patch for Strike Fighters 2 Europe, an updated version of "Wings Over Europe" which adds Windows Vista compatibility. The game is a stand-alone product and does not require "Strike Fighters 2" to play, but if you already have "Strike Fighters 2" or "Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam", the games are merged to make all the stock aircraft available. Publisher Lighthouse has announced that its tank simulator for PC WWII Battle Tanks: T-34 vs Tiger, originally scheduled for April 2008, has been delayed. A new date has not yet been set.

Raymond Snippe, Development Manager for Lighthouse Interactive, said: "T34 has a lot going for it. The combination of gorgeous graphics, realistic physics models, interactive environments and exhilarating multiplayer gameplay justifiably makes this a highly anticipated simulation." He went on to say: "Because it is so highly anticipated and because of the community feedback that reached us after the Russian release, we wanted to give the developer the extra time to polish the game to make sure we deliver the best product possible. Attack on Pearl Harbor Trailer #2 & New Screens

CDV Software Entertainment USA has released a new trailer and six new screenshots from Attack on Pearl Harbor, an arcade air combat game for the PC, set in World War II (Thx:GamersHell). The game allows you to play as either US pilot Douglas Knox or Japanese pilot Zenji Yamada, as you struggle to face the day of the attack on the Pearl Harbor. Developed by Legendo Entertainment, Attack on Pearl Harbor is due to ship in Q2 2007.

At the end of January the Camo Workshop unleashed their version 3.0 upgrade patch for winSPMBT, and lo, it was good. And now the Camo Workshop has turned their attention on winSPWW2 (Steel Panthers: World War 2) and has readied an upgrade for that title with a kampfgruppe worth of features, fixes, and enhancements. Discus Games has released a playable demo Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942 (Thx:GamersHell), giving you the chance to try out the alpha version of their tank simulator in the theme of WWII. Events in the game are based on the little-known offensive operation, conducted by the Red Army from May 12 to 28, 1942. In the course of German counterattack, begun 17 May 1942, three Soviet Armies were surrounded and forced through fierce fighting to leave from the "meat grinder" of the "Barvenkovskiy Kotel".

eSim Games now offers downloads of a new patch for Steel Beasts Pro Personal Edition. This page features the file and instructions on its use. Word is: "Do you need this update? Start Start [sic] Pro PE and look in the upper right corner of the main menu screen to find the version number. If the version number is less than 2.304, you should download this update. How simple is too simple?

We don't expect much from budget tank sims. Even so, there's definitely a place for simple arcade-style games that fill in the hours between sessions with more sophisticated offerings. First Battalion is one of the better titles in this category. Offering reasonably good graphics and no-nonsense approachability, it's sure to provide at least a few hour's of fun before gamers grow weary of the simplicity and repetition of the levels.
