Visit to Razorworks
by Kurt GiesselmanAnyone that owns the sim knows it has an incredibly complex and detailed, fully dynamic mission. The real challenge was to implement real AI for the enemy and allies that could run on something less than a super computer. Hey Razorworks, isn’t success sweet.
The big question that I asked at the end of my visit was “What is next?” Many of us had hoped for Warthog vs. Frogfoot or Snake vs. Hind. That is not to be for Razorwork’s next project. They are going to apply their graphics wizardry to another fast growing genre of simulations. Empire and Razorworks are not quite ready to divulge the details of the new simulation but there was a lot of energy and excitement in the group for the project.
I did get several glimpses of what was being worked on but I am sworn to secrecy until Empire is ready to make an announcement. One project they are considering for the future is porting the Enemy Engaged series to Microsoft’s Xbox. There are several issues to be overcome but it would certainly be a breakthrough over the standard Mario Brothers games on console systems.
